Well, not DEgoogled, but dethroned is Mr. Random’s Blog of Randomness from the top spot when you search “Mr. Random” on Google. In fact, Eugene’s Mr. Random, yours truly, is not mentioned at all on the first page when I searched right now. That’s cool, I’m cool with that. No, really.

I’ve wondered recently if the “Mr. Random” moniker/character/schtick is wearing thin. But it seems pretty attached to me, thin or not. So I won’t say anything more on that subject, except that it’s a reasonably well-known “brand” in some parts of Eugene and the internet, and I don’t really mind that. To be a Fame Fighter you have to have at least a little fame to fight.

I seem to have gotten myself all excited about RadioNOT. I spent a lot of the last two nights checking out MySpace songs by The Valiant Arms, The Underlings, Honey Vizer, Alpha Dahlia, The Decliners, Swallows and many others, looking for likely tunes to use in my internet radio show. More and more ppl are getting fast internet and portable online devices, not to mention portable music players (iPod et al), so that potential audience for audio shows delivered via internet is growing. I would like to make two 80 minute shows per week, and include timely material like show announcements perhaps. I’d also like to present live bands a la how I used to have live bands on KWVA, except of course it wouldn’t be really “live”… but I think it would be cool to do “on location” special recordings/interview with my Korg D888 and then mix and add to a RadioNOT show. Okay, time to get to work… money job work at the store that is.

P.S. if you don’t have a way to listen to RadioNOT online, the 80 minute format lets me burn an audio CDR of any show.

I feel philosophical but am not finding the expressivity to blog. Untangling might be a better word than streamlining. First it’s good to locate the ends. And the kinks. Tease apart so to be able to see the tanglings better. Then working the ends back through the loosened knots, easing the kinks, gradually working down to smaller knots and teasing them apart. It takes a relaxed and focused attention, and a vigilance against pulling any of the tangles tighter. My stomach is gurgling & relaxing even as I think through the visuals of detangling & unknotting. Breathing through the knots and illuminating them is very helpful. There was some expressivity. kthxbai.

I was going to write about how this year feels like a transition year, but then I could say that about any year probably. Always transiting. But there are some personal changes, personnel changes even: my radio show now lelu’s time slot, e.g. And I’ve opted out of the OCF/Shady Grove this year at least. I’m getting a sabbatical if I want to return next year. And I’m not planning to do Scobert this year. I’m transiting away from presenting other ppl’s music, I suppose you could say, and focusing on my own music and art and whatever is developing and becoming. Working on making current musical relationships even more exciting and fulfilling and experimental even. There is a lot happening in Eugene’s interlocking musical/artistic scenes, and I’m totally enjoying my little parts in it.

During the fall I managed to make great headway tossing & organizing my STUFF. And then in January things got sticky again, slow molasses in the toss/organize department. Now I’m getting motivated again to resume the task. Resume the brutal attitude of “I haven’t seen or touched this in 5, 10 years, so why do I need to keep it? TOSS!!” Streamlined randomness seems to be where I’m wanting to go. Not “potential randomness” because there is no end to that. No, I want to hone my randomness into something sharper and more effective. Which doesn’t mean I have any kind of Plan, not at all. It’s more of a Profile that I’m looking to sculpt. I got no overall plan or any illusion that there could really be one. What I’m talking about is cultivating a body, attitude, and surrounding-stuff that enhance my experience and awareness, and my ability to connect & create in realtime in ways that I want to.

Updated secret blog. Updated nonsense blog. Thought about RadioNOT. Thought about Space Money Blog. Last night I wrote a long entry on ~fletk blog. I need to upload whatever’s in the camera onto the Flickr. There are several videos I need to edit and upload to my Vimeo or my YouTube. Actually, I did upload a new one and embedded it on the LaunchPad Swarm blog earlier this week. Yesterday I did not blog on the Capella Market blog.  Too much else to deal with.  Maybe today. Mrs. Random and I share a Google Doc and keep it open during the day, since we’re both on computers all the time at our respective jobs. The lower part of the document is for lists of various kinds, things to buy & things to do, short- medium- and long-term projects, etc. The top part of the page is devoted to the current day, such as what’s for dinner, what to buy at Capella (me), and an interactive “chat session” for want of a better term. Google Docs update very quickly for all shared parties when someone writes or edits, so it becomes very conversational. We don’t email each other much any more because we have our shared doc for nearly realtime communication. I just keep the doc in a browser tab and check it every so often while I’m making flyers or ads or signs or whatever. I think the doc is a great way for Robin and me to communicate in several different timescales (longterm lists to very effluvial chat material… lots of lol-ing if you know watz Iz means). Randoms are cyborgs.

Oatmeal cooking over there in the kitchen.  Old Daphne cuddles up to the hot stove in the living room, her bones always a bit too cold it seems.  Her fur sometimes get a little burnt smell.  FRANTIC played at Chez Random last night.  Our practices are short and intense.  Yesterday we clocked in at only 33 minutes, but my fret fingers were buzzing and sore when we stopped.  Last week was full of space money and helping Stardust move out of her house and into storage.  This week seems musical, with both LaunchPad and FRANTIC getting together already, and I’m hoping that My Dirty Little Secret can manage some playing time on Thursday.  That would be so cool.  Okay, time to forward the day through itself.

Up early after nice evening with old friends over for dinner. Mrs. R & and I had been playing our “album wars” thing where we take turns picking/playing sides of vinyl LP records for each other. When N & S arrived, we invited them to join in, and they didn’t need any prodding. We’re all pretty much in the same age range, so lots of 70s music got played, basically. Smiley face.

I wrote a waaaaa crybaby entry on the ~fletk blog about the Sirens of Mothra, who are giving it up after just three hot shows and fewer than 6 months in existence. Waaaaaa!

I started another WordPress blog: spacemoney.wordpress.com for the whole exploding space money experiment. S called it a MEME yesterday. Fuck yeah, I made a meme!

RadioNOT is NOT a meme yet. But I did post another segment over the weekend, and I also installed a little Flash player in ~fletk’s left sidebar, where you can play the current segment (Feb. 23 at the moment). I’ve toyed with the idea of adding pictures and prose to radionot.wordpress.com. That woud be a change in policy. The RadioNOT policy has been to privilege the audio program over any descriptive or supplemental data. Like “real radio” you don’t really know what’s happening next, you don’t have text and pictures to go along with the radio broadcast. The blog is just a portal to listening, it’s a spot on the dial. I could have just made a list of segments in the ~fletk blog sidebar, linking to the archive.org pages where you can play/download each RadioNOT segment. But the WordPress blog as a home base for RadioNOT seemed cooler than just a link list in my sidebar. The main point is to listen to the shows.

Okay, I’m done now. Need to make oatmeal, do some spacemoney painting, make more coffee, and get myself to work. And make a Capella Market blog entry at some point while I work on a bunch of different ads. Mark’s been approving more of those lately for little publications, so that ups the pressure (and fun) for me.

Rhythms of attending to oneself and attending to widenening (&narrowing) sphere (irregular blob) of others. Navigating the milieu interstices, whilst keeping oneself (myself) “together” enough to be a self with a healthy multiplicity of subjectivity. Wrought and written, bitten & smitten, but wrestling-playing with always folding (like melting twisting plastic) materials in realtime mix, never satisfied with sitting solid in the sediment. I think we all squirm with life at different speeds and viscosities. There’s your freakin’ thought for the day.

I think there’s a lot of adjusting going on now. Maybe it’s mostly under the surface, but who can’t feel it?

Is it a different kind of adjusting than before? If not different in kind, it’s surely much MORE, an intensity inviting nonlinear phenomena–bifurcations and creative turbulence ahead?

Re-examinations and “course corrections,” retuning attitudes & orientations, perspectives and panoramas.

Every time I get in a bad mood, it’s an opportunity for observation, evaluation, and heavy drin… I mean adjustment of the settings.
